Carmen M. Rivera, 68, of Crown Point, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024. After retiring from the Lake County Elections Dept., Carmen enjoyed her retirement by traveling, sitting by the ocean enjoying the sounds of the waves with her toes in the sand and a drink in her hand, and checking adventures like ziplining and parasailing off her bucket list.
Carmen loved photography and enjoyed taking pictures to document her travels and big moments. She was praised by her family for her perfect flan and lechon and sought out by her children, nephews and nieces for her chocolate chip cookies, brownies and scrumptious sweet treats.
Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and showering her grandchildren with love and affection.
Carmen is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Maria Perez; the love of her life, husband Ray Rivera; older brother, Epifanio Perez; and in laws Esperanza and Maria Luisa Rivera.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children; Jason (Marysa) Rivera; Steven (Meghan) Rivera and Deanna (Garrett) Gaboyan; treasured grandchildren; Anthony, Andrew, Jersie, Dakoda, Gabriella, Raphael, Gavin and Grayson; brothers; Joseph (Carol) Perez, Freddy (Alejandra) Perez, sister; Hilda (George) Pabey; special nieces; Lisette, Lucy, Mia and Rosalynn, nephew; Tony; sister-in-laws; Elsa, Meanie, Milagros, and Maria; brother-in-laws; Anibal, Jaime and Jose; numerous nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
Carmen will be sincerely missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.

Carmen was always so sweet to me. RIP.
Rest in Heaven Beautiful Angel 🙏
Very saddend to hear of the passing of Carmen. I started working at the same office as carmen a year after her and our desks were right by each other. What I learned and admired about her was she found goodness in all she knew, treated people with kindness, respect, and didn’t judge people. We worked many fund raisers together, went out after work with different employees and she was the nicest person to have a drink or bite to eat with, and Definitely to work with. I will cherish the memories I was able to have with her. My deepest sincere condolences to Carmen’s sons, daughter, grandchildren and relatives.

My deepest condolences to Carmen’s family
Jason, Deana, and Steven, sister Hilda and all the rest.
We were friends in highschool and after, I was one of her bridemaids in her wedding so many years ago. I am very sorry I could not attend tonight due to my own health issues. I will miss you my friend, thankyou for your friendship,
rest in peace.
I had the pleasure to work with Carmen and call her friend for many years. She was an Awesome co-worker who helped me whenever I needed it. She was so nice, kind and fun to work with. We enjoyed each other’s company and did lunch together everyday with other co-workers, or just us together. Even after she retired, we’d still get together for lunch when she was able to. We always had a great time and I enjoyed making her laugh. In our conversations, she always spoke of her family, husband, kids and grandchildren, she loved them all so much. She always enjoyed her trips to Destin to see Steven and his family, and to relax in the warm weather. I know she missed Ray so much, and now she is with the love of her life, parents and family. I will miss my friend so much, and knowing that she is no longer suffering eases my mind. I was out of town and so sorry that I missed her services. May she rest in eternal peace and her memory be eternal.
