Marguerite Perez, beloved mother, grandmother, stepmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, 83, of Merrillville, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born on March 2, 1941 in Toulouse, France to Francisco and Juana Collado. She lived a life full of love, laughter and conversation. She loved talking about history, her family in France and everything going on in the world. Marguerite loved her daughter and her 3 grandsons fiercely. Her entire world revolved around them. Her daughter was her best friend and they did everything together. Marguerite was everybody’s friend, and grandma to all of her grandsons’ friends. She touched and impacted the lives of everyone she knew.
Marguerite was preceded in death by the love of her life, her beloved husband, Diego Perez, parents, Fransisco and Juana Collado, oldest sister, Rosa Benages, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jose and Carmen Perez, brother-in-law, Frank Perez, Sr. and nephew, Frank Perez, Jr.
Marguerite is survived by her only child, her daughter, Juanita Perez-Ramirez(Dario Ramirez) of Merrillville, her 3 grandsons, James Ramirez, David Ramirez(Michelle Coronel) and Daniel Ramirez of Merrillville, stepdaughter, Maria(John) Martin, of Valparaiso, sister-in-law, Juanita(Gerald) Sonaty of Albertville, AL, sisters, Violette(Pedro) Paredes and Juanita Vásquez both of France and many nieces and nephews, both in France and the United States.
Marguerite also has an extended family she is survived by. Carmen, Cornelio and Estella Coronel, Erasmo, Maria, Christian and Mia Vega, Jose Luis, Rosa, Salvador and Jose Angulo, Franky, Evalinda, Joshua and Elijah Felix, Paul Heflick III, and a host of her grandsons’ best friends, who loved her like their own grandmother, her faithful and loving four legged companions, Rosco and Winston. These families have been a huge part of Marguerite’s and her family’s lives for many years.
Marguerite will be terribly missed by her family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that she left an incredible and unforgettable legacy of love, kindness and generosity and that her beautiful soul will live on forever.
Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 3 to 8 pm at Rendina Funeral Home, 5100 Cleveland Street, Gary, IN 46408. Services will begin at 10 am on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Calumet Park Cemetery Mausoleum, 2305 W. 73rd Ave., Merrillville, IN 46410
