REMEMBERING

Darinka Elich

1933

-

2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darinka Elich, a woman whose life was a testament to hard work, resilience, and boundless love.  Darinka age 90 passed away peacefully at home with family on Thursday August 22nd. 2024.  Darinka was born in Bitola, Macedonia on September 1st, 1933.

Darinka leaves behind not just a grieving family but a rich legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Darinka was known for never meeting a stranger. Her kindness and openness were her hallmarks, making everyone she encountered feel loved.  As a dedicated and tireless surgical nurse and midwife she embodied the virtues of independence and a strong work ethic, always encouraging those around her to strive for better.

Darinka was the heart of her family, her most treasured accomplishment her greatest joy. She lived her life putting them first. Her home was always filled with the scent of her famous dishes: Zelnic, stuffed peppers, fresh bread, and spaghetti—dishes that, like her love, nourished and comforted those lucky enough to share a meal at her table. She was always ready to sing and dance, often the first one on the dance floor. Darinka worked at St Mary Medical Center for 42 years before her retirement and was a member of SS Peter and Paul Macedonian Orthodox Church.

Darinka’s memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the honor of being touched by her remarkable spirit. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Darinka was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Vladimir Elich.
