Bobby Duane Smith, aged 90 years old was born October 14th, 1933 in Huntland, Tennessee and died October 6th, 2024 in Merrillville Indiana.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 69 years, Beuna Mae (Ervin) Smith, his children Barbara Ann, Ronnie Duane (wife Karen), and Michael Clunn (wife Cindy), his grandchildren Sabrina Wolfe, Steven Smith, Kaitlyn Smith, his two sisters Joann Welch and Joyce Peters, and his brother Ted Smith.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Homer and Addie Lou Smith, his sister Justine Waggoner, his brother Dale Smith, his son-in-law Warren A. Griggs II, and his grandson Jake Duane Griggs.

Bobby retired from Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad in Hammond Indiana on October 31st, 1994 where he had worked as a switchman for 39 years. Bobby also worked on the side as an iron-worker for many years before his retirement.

For 25 years Bobby and Beuna spent their winters at their home in Seminole Gardens Florida where Bobby enjoyed being president of the shuffleboard club and taking long walks on the beach with his beloved wife.

Bobby was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

Visitation will be at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel (7535 Taft St. Merrillville, IN 46410) on Friday October 11th from 11am-12pm. The Funeral Service will be at 12 and officiated by Preacher Paul Bush of Merrillville Church of Christ. The burial will be to follow the service. Pallbearers will be sons Ronnie and Michael, grandchildren Sabrina, Steven, and Kaitlyn, and friend Timmy Tucker.
