Joel Garza, age 60, unexpectedly passed away at his home on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Joel is survived by, his loving mother Yolanda Garza ; siblings Elsa (Sidronio) Hurtado, Frank (Esther) Garza, Javier Garza, Jorge Garza, Edwardo Garza; nephews and nieces Corbin Garza, Joshua Garza, Robert (Megan) Sanchez, Jessica Garza (Austin Bowman), and Jacob Garza
Joel is proceeded in death by his adoring father, Francisco T Garza.
Joel worked many years as a heating and air conditioning installer and serviceman. He was great at fixing things, whether it be appliances, tools and especially cars. He loved everything about cars. His longtime hobby was playing pool and he was an avid fan of the Chicago Bulls. He was the kind of person who would drop anything to help, whether it was for family or friends. Joel was a good soul with a tremendous heart and will be greatly missed.
Friends may meet with his family on Monday, November 11 from 9-11 am at St. Francis Xavier Church, 2447 Putnam St., Lake Station, Indiana

Tía, I am hearbroken for your loss, I cannot even imagine the pain you must be feeling. Your whole family is in our thoughts. I have very fond memories of Joel, all the time spent together the games played during our youth, his memory will live on with us: each and every one of his cousins that had the opportunity to share part of his life. Joel was a true friend. Always will willing to help if needed or just hang out with great conversations. He will be missed.
My heart goes out to my Tia Yolanda and family. I can’t even imagine their sorrow. As cousins, growing up we lived next to each other. I feel a great sense of loss and nostalgia.
