Angela Spurling (nee Milisavljevic)
It is with great sorry and heavy hearts that we share with you the unexpected passing of our Dearest Angela…Fondly known as “Angie”. She was born on February 19, 1947 in Germany to Mirko and Alma Milisavljevic. Angie grew up in Gary, IN. and graduated from Emerson High School in 1965. She was the head majorette for the Emerson Marching Band. She attended graduate school for telecommunications and held a number of positions where she excelled at switchboard operator. Eventually retiring from St Mary Medical Center (switchboard operator) with 15 years of service. Whether you were a physician or pateint, you could always hear her overhead pages as you walked the halls of the hospital in Hobart.
Angie leaves behind her daughter Dena L Gary, Hobart; two grandchildren Anthony D. (Ashley), of Indianapolis; and Alex N. Gary of Hobart as well as two great grand-daughters and one sister Violette. Angie is preceded in death by her parents Mirko (2011) and Alma (2014) and brother Andy (2023).
In her youth, she was very active in the folklore dance group and helped whenever she could within the St Sava Serbian Orthodox Church community. She also enjoyed spedning time with her two amazing grand-boys (especially Alex), going to the beach, the local festivals and of course the yearly Serb Fest.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date, so that we may all reminisce of the found memories we all shared together with “Ang”. Memorial donations may be made to St Sava Serbian Orthodox Church,9191 Mississippi St, Merrillville, IN. Burial was private. May her memory be eternal.
