Charles J. Capua, 94, of Hebron, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025. He was born on September 29, 1930, in Gary, to the late Louis and Josephine (Campilisi) Capua.

Charles is survived by his stepchildren, Daniel Capua, Stanley Capua, and Tina (Joe) Pabon; grandchildren, Danny Capua, Nicholas (Madison) Capua, Lauren (Tyler) White, and Melanie (Nathan) McKim; great-grandchildren, Lainey White, and Kayden McKim; nieces, Rosanne (Frank) Dobis, and Michelle Capua Conwell; great nieces, Rachel (Nick Mirabile) Dobis, Jessica Dobis, and Ashton Conwell; great nephew, Bradley Conwell; great-great nephew, Tommy Mirabile; sister-in-law, Maxine Capua; and a loving host of extended family, friends, and acquaintances.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia (Kurowski) Capua; brother, Joe Capua; sisters, Rose Velligan, and Minnie Galvidis; and nephew, Louis Capua.

Charles proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. Once out of service, Charles began working for Gary US Steel, where he would continue to work for over 40 years.

Charles was a lifelong devout Catholic, spreading the hope and love of his Savior with those around him which brought him much comfort throughout his life.

In his spare time, Charles could notoriously be found fishing or hunting, memories his family will hold near and dear to their hearts. Most importantly, family was everything to Charles, especially when it came time to visit with his grandchildren as he adored them greatly.

Charles, along with all the love and joy he shared, will be dearly missed by those whose hearts he touched throughout his life.

Services for Charles will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 9 AM to 1 PM at Rendina Funeral Home, 5100 Cleveland St, Gary, IN 46408. Entombment will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville where a short Catholic committal service will be held.
