DEL-GRASHA EVANS was born into this world on March 30, 1957, to Benjamin Franklin and Ollie V. Evans in Gary, Indiana. At the early age of sixteen, Del’s caring and thoughtful compassion began as she cared for others as a nurse assistant in South Haven, Michigan. Her interest in serving others continued as she worked at The Silver Slipper, Library Lounge, Tri-City Lighthouse Restaurant and Buffet, Harrah’s Resorts & Casino, at Ameristar as Stewart and elevating to Lead Supervisor until she could no longer work due to a medical diagnosis.
Her life blossomed with happiness at the birth of her first-born son, Korey, and then her second son, Kevin. The boys were her pride and joy. She loved being a mom. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age as childhood member of St. Andrew’s AME Zion Church.
At the age of 67, Del passed away on July 18, 3024 at Methodist Hospital, Gary, IN.
Del was preceded in death by parents Benjamin and Ollie Evans; brothers: Dwight Williams, and Benjamin Evans; and sister, Phyllis V. Evans. She leaves to cherish her memories, siblings: Michael & Shelia of Milwaukee, WI, Randolph and Beverly Evans of Dolton, IL, Sandra & Wendell Edgington of Portage, IN, and Morris Evans of Gary, IN.; as well as special friend and prayer partner, Dennis Spragins; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, cousins and countless who would’ve made the moments last a little longer.
