Milica “Mila” Kostovski, age 93, passed away peacefully at home on March 15, 2024 surrounded by her beloved family.
Mila was born in the village of Dolenci in Macedonia on July 4, 1930 to Vangel and Sofija Kuzevich. She was married to Kosta on May 4, 1952. The couple lived in Bitola, Macedonia and were blessed with a daughter, Vesa. In March of 1967 at the age of 36, they came to ‘Amerika’ and settled in Northwest Indiana. Mila found employment at Arthur Weiner. She was a lifelong member of SS Peter & Paul Macedonian Orthodox Church and involved with the Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Mila spent her time always helping others in many facets. She was very present in the lives of her granddaughters and great grandchildren. She would lovingly bake and cook meals for her family and loved ones on a moment’s notice. Mila was well known for her 10 layer ‘made-from-scratch’ Chokolate Torte and Kori along with her pastries and jars of peppers. Mila took great pride in her garden and always shared her harvest with family and neighbors.
The meaning of Mila’s name means gracious and dear, and she indeed was, as many have spoken of her kindness and sweet disposition. Her endearing spirit will continue on with her family and future generations to come.
She is preceded in death by her husband Kosta Kostovski; parents Vangel and Sofija Kuzevich; brother Steve (Lorraine) Kuzevich; brother Krste (Luba) Kuzevski; and sister Luba Kuzevska; nephews Ile and Gorgija Kuzevski.
Mila is survived by her beloved daughter, Vesa (Kocho) Mishevski, two loving granddaughters, Suzie (Craig) Scheuneman and Stephanie Mishevski, two adored great grandchildren Collin and Kayla, and a special nephew, Don Kuzevich. From Macedonia special nephews Kire & Cane with their families. Also numerous other relatives and life long friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at SS Peter & Paul Macedonian Orthodox Church at 12:30 pm with a visitation beginning at 11:30am, Father Georgij Gligorov and Father Aleksandar Mitrov Officiating.
